Ways to quit smoking

There are many ways that someone can attempt to quit smoking. Various aids are available which make it possible for thousands of smokers every year to give up their habit.

The first and most successful method is by using a combination of will power and nicotine replacement therapies. Nicotine is the part of the cigarette which your body craves. Starving your body of nicotine will cause side effects and withdrawal symptoms. Nicotine replacements aim to fend off such cravings and withdrawals by giving the body the nicotine is has become addicted to whilst you do the hard work giving up smoking. Such products include mints and gums which give the body small doses of nicotine. Patches are also very common. One of the more revolutionary products in this category is the e cigarette, also known as the electronic cigarette. This inhaler gives the body nicotine and looks and feels like a normal cigarette so the process of parting from smoking becomes easier.

Other methods of quitting include acupuncture which is a way of “unblocking” certain energies in the body by using needles which are carefully inserted into pressure points of the body. This is thought to unclog parts of the body which cause ill health and smoking addictions.

One other quit smoking method is hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is widely known as being a method which puts the mind into some kind of trance. Although it is used for entertainment purposes, many people do feel that it has a high success rate and has worked well for them. The consultant uses a series of suggestive language techniques to force the brain to believe that it does not need cigarettes. Research has shown that the addiction is caused by parts of the brain which are addicted to the nicotine. Targeting this directly is the idea behind hypnotherapy. One customer said, “I was fully aware of what was happening in the session and it really did work for me. I found the clinic on the internet and the price was reasonable. It enabled me to combat my smoking habit successfully and now I have been smoke free for 3 years.”
